HOLOPHRASE

n. single word expressing a complex idea.

Holophrase formed in the summer of 2004. It is comprised of trombonist Dave Smith (who also plays a variety of other "little instruments"), Ron Spencer on guitar and myself. Dave and I have played together in various groupings, including the now-defunkt Society Giants and as a duo. Ron comes from a long history of working with many Baltimore punk bands, the most famous being the band Buttsteak. The music is improvised and the results range from folky rock to Webern-esque minimalism.

At the end of the summer of 2005, Ron relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, so the trio is no longer playing regularly. But stay tuned for future shows.
